What is the best flooring for barns . leah sattler. could you use pigs to create an impervious barn floor to put bedding on top of, my personal experience as a professional goat farmer/ cheesemaker with floor surfaces is, climate: temperate, 6 month growing season, 4-6 month winters, snowbound for at least 3 months.. My first goat barn was part of cow dairy barn, concrete floors. my last one was concrete/cement also. i love it. it is so much easier to clean and helps keep them cool in the summer. that barn burned, so the new one has a gravel floor that gets thrown out with the bedding. i wish i had my cement floors back!. Something i do in warm weather to save me hours of cleaning and shoveling out barns is i open the goat house every evening and feed them. they are free to come and go as they please all night long. when the warm morning rolls around i lock them out of the barn. it saves me more than half the cleaning and the expense of bedding..
This plastic flooring for goats has a dimension of 1 ft x 2 ft. it has holes that were designed to make the goat and sheep manures to pass through. making it lesser time for cleaning goat houses and more time tendering to our goat needs.. 4. better hygiene, avoids fungal skin problems in goats in rainy season unlike wooden floors. 5.provides even spacing slats (16 mm) to felicitate easy droppings of dung (in wooden floors after few months the reapers will shrink and bend which allows the leg stuck problems in goats and particularly in kids causing fracture of legs) 6.. Cement floor, wood, or dirt in your barn? discussion in 'behaviors & handling techniques - cattle' started by stubbornhillfarm, i really think elevan is onto something with her plans to 'redo" her barn floor for drainage. hmmmmmmmmm. donnabelle donnabelle, aug 18, 2011 #3. goat labor louannx posted, replies: 64.
